about

Official soundtrack, produced in partnership with the original composers.

*****PC-9801 (OPN) VERSION*****
The PC-9801 (OPN) is a daughter version of the original Roland MT-32 version of the soundtrack. The original themes were arranged and programmed by the Japanese musician Takeshi Abo for the OPN soundcard for the PC-9801 version of the game.

This soundtrack has been recorded using a real PC-9821 equipped with a PC-9801-86 (OPNA/OPN) soundcard.

*****PC-9821 (OPNA) VERSION (UNRELEASED)*****
The PC-9821 (OPNA) is a daughter version of the original Roland MT-32 version of the soundtrack. The original themes were arranged and programmed by the Japanese musician Takeshi Abo for the OPNA soundcard in preparation to be converted to the FM-TOWNS OPN2 version (since Takeshi Abo used a PC-98 rather than an FM-TOWNS for composing music). Therefore, the OPNA version was never released.

This soundtrack has been recorded using a real PC-9821 equipped with a PC-9801-86 (OPNA/OPN) soundcard.

*****FM-TOWNS (OPN2) VERSION*****
The FM-TOWNS (OPN2) a daughter version of the original Roland MT-32 version of the soundtrack. The original themes were first arranged and programmed by the Japanese musician Takeshi Abo for the OPNA soundcard before they were converted to the FM-TOWNS OPN2 version.

This soundtrack has been recorded using a real FM-TOWNS equipped with an OPN2 soundcard.

Sci-Fi Themes 1~17 were initially composed by Takeshi Abo for the Japanese-only game "Starfire", but 15 were never used in the final version of the game. New World Computing decided to use them for Sci-Fi themes for Might and Magic V, but only 3 were actually used in it. Afterward, Takeshi Abo composed additional thems for the final version of Starfire. (The full complete soundtrack for Starfire, including unused music, may be purchased separately.)

Bonus material:
(#1) Commentary by Takeshi Abo (original Japanese + English translation).
(#2) Detailed archival tracklist.

The archival soundtrack series contains all known music from said title, including 1 second jingles, unused music, beta versions, and more.

Soundtrack and any bonus materials may not be re-distributed elsewhere without the express permission of Xeen Music.
